About the Green Ridge congregation and community:
Green Ridge is a small rural farming settlement, dating back to the eraly 1800's. It is the farthest point east in the Charge, located ten miles east from Dominion City on Highway 201. Its congregation consists of members from small adjacent farming communities.

Many of these communities each had its own church in past days, but as populations declined, they closed their doors and amalgamated with the Green Ridge Church. These roots are the center of the church as evidenced by the cross atop the building. pointing in four directions, representing the four founding church communities that have given birth to the present day congregation. Those leaving the physical borders of the area to communities such as Morris, Winnipeg, Dominion City, and Emerson continue to return on a regular basis to worship and call this home.

The church is located on a picturesque landscape on what is known as "the Ridge", the change in land between the flat prairie grain land to the west and the rougher cattle and bush land to the east.

Green Ridge has the newest of the three buildings, having been opened in the fall of 1988. The population of the churchhas been in a state of change in the past number of years as communities struggle with a change in their formations. The congregation is a multicultural group of individuals united in their membership in the church. Members originally came from a traditional Anglo Saxon Presbyterian background and have now embraced ethnic and cultural changes of a new world. A large part of the congregation now claims a Mennonite heritage, as well as Ukrainian and French ancestry, and new immigrants to Canada.

The economic base of the congregation is also in a state of change. The traditional farming base of the church is being diversified as more of the farming community reaches retirement age. Many of the younger members are working out of the area, commuting to nearby larger communities to find employment. The appreciation of different life styles and the commitment requirements of employment have been areas of growth within the congregation.

The main population base of the church has shifted eastward in recent years, with many members living in the Stuartburn Tolstoi area. This makes travelling and awareness of happenings in the church a concern to many.

The church has a WONDER-ful choir and engeretic board (The board has been compared to a Harley humming down the highway.) Pastoral care is strong. The Sunday School is committed to engaging the children with the Good News of Jesus Christ.

There are many old pioneers still living in Green Ridge. However they are becoming older as the years go on, and sadly there are typically a number of funerals at Green Ridge United. The congregation has taken on this task as its ministry.
