About the Dominion City congregation and coummunity:
Dominion City is located 12 miles north of Emerson and is nestled on the banks of the Roseau River. It has a population of approximately 350. Dominion City was first settled in 1874, known then as "Roseau Crossing," later as "Penza," and finally "Dominion City."

In the past, Dominion City has been an agriculture-based community, serving the needs of its smaller surrounding farming communities. Times changed with the closing of the local grain elevator and other facilities.
There has been a change in focus as families with a variety of different professions, including truck drivers, trades people, and nurses, have settled in the community.

Dominion City is a "community" in the richest sense of the word. People work side-by-side to paint the Hall, look after the hockey canteen, celebrate the opening and closing of the swimming pool, welcome "Summer," and raise funds to maintain the "no green fees" golf course, which is the gift of Garnet Kyle. The golf course provides an opportunity for fundraising for many groups and facilities. Many social occasions add a deep sense of friendship and acceptance among people who live in this area, making DC a place where "everybody knows your name."

Dominion City United Church meets the Pastoral needs for all denominational backgrounds and is seen as the "Community Church." People with no denominational roots or with an entirely different denominational background are finding a home in the United Church. The church is eclectic in that sense, and present in the pews are many Anglicans, Roman Catholics, Ukrainian Catholics, and Lutherans, who bring their own traditions to enrich worship life and the work of the church.

The Church enjoys its active Sunday School, a junior choir, and a large board.

Because Dominion City is the central point of the charge, most meetings are held there.
